Full Job Description
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Respiratory Therapy Team based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Specialities include chronic respiratory illnesses, non-invasive ventilation service and long-term tracheostomies. In these settings, physiotherapists have a key role in high level clinical reasoning, risk identification and problem solving to enable patients to rehabilitate, maintain their independence, manage their conditions autonomouslyand to support patient discharge at the earliest safe opportunity.
We are looking for a highly skilled clinician who has a clear understanding of the developing role of the physiotherapist in the respiratory medicine; delivering innovative, responsive services to meet both the needs of patients and the organisation.
The post holder will sit within one of the largest in-patient therapy teams (critical care, medicine, and surgery) at LUHFT. This team comprises of multi-professional team members working within an interdisciplinary model covering critical care, HPB/surgical wards, medical wards and non-invasive ventilation.
This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to gain experience and develop advanced clinical and leadership skills.
Requests for part time, flexible working, secondment will all be considered. A training post may be offered if appropriate (Annex 21).
The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the wider team as well as with other external agencies. The post holder will have significant experience working with adults with complex respiratory presentations, in particular those with multiple co-morbidities.
This role demands extensive post graduate knowledge and experience, therefore the post holder must be highly competent in the triage, assessment and management of a wide range of acute conditions and presentations.
This is a varied and challenging role and as such strong leadership skills are essential, requiring someone with initiative, a great team ethic, self-awareness, flexible thinking and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate must be committed and enthusiastic in providing high standard patient care.
The post holder will be on-call competent and comfortable working in a challenging, acute, fast paced environment and able to offer support to staff in the management of clinically challenging patients. There is an expectation that the post holder will support the weekend, late shift and on-call services at LUHFT.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

£46,148 to £52,809 a year A training post may be offered if appropriate (Annex 21)
