Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time (0.5 WTE) 8A permanent Practitioner Psychologist in the Tics and Neurodevelopmental Movement Disorders (TANDeM) team within the Neurosciences Department at the Evelina London Children's Hospital. We have other 8A posts advertised within the Neurosciences department and there may be an opportunity to offer additional sessions as a split role.

The service is a longstanding and well-regarded tertiary centre which has a national (and international) reputation and receives referrals from districts in the whole of the South East region and UK more broadly.

The post-holder will contribute to multidisciplinary complex assessment clinics and provide evidence-based direct and indirect psychological intervention to children, young people and families with tics and other movement disorders (including complex motor stereotypies and functional tics). This is an interesting and varied role with scope to develop further specialist knowledge and skills within the context of the multi-disciplinary team. Supervision will be provided by an experienced Psychologist within the team and there are good opportunities for professional development. We are a dedicated and supportive team with a commitment to research, audit and evaluation and there are many active projects within the department.

· To provide highly specialist psychological assessments based on appropriate use of a range methods (including generic developmental assessment, cognitive assessments, validated tests, self-report measures, rating scales, observations and clinical interviews with children, families and other agencies)

· To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide high quality integrated care, contributing to diagnosis and formulation of young people's neurodevelopmental, movement disorder and/or mental health needs.

· To provide recommendations for support based on psychological formulation and evidence base.

· Offer psychological assessments and intervention of children and young people presenting with neurodevelopmental needs such as Tic disorders, autism and associated difficulties as part of a multidisciplinary team clinic.

· Supervision of assistant, trainee and undergraduate psychology students.

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK's best known hospitals - Guy's, St Thomas', Evelina London Children's Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield - as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

We are among the UK's busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and - as part of King's Health Partners - we are one of England's eight academic health sciences centres, bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research. We have one of the National Institute for Health Research's biomedical research centres, established with King's College London in 2007, as well as dedicated clinical research facilities.

We have around 22,700 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs.
