Full Job Description

The post holder has the responsibility of providing highly specialist services to the Head and Neck Cancer caseload across the whole clinical pathway. He/she will work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead SLT for coordinating speech and language therapy (SLT) input along this pathway and will take a delegated lead role within the Head and Neck Cancer SLT service. The SLT service at Cardiff & Vale is a welcoming and supportive service with Clinical Lead SLTs providing robust support and supervision. There is a strong focus on staff wellbeing and personal development. Participation in service projects and audits is encouraged.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed, Due to internal promotion and investment, we have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Macmillan B7 Senior SLT role for Head & Neck Cancer.
You will be part of a growing SLT team who work across all aspects of the patient's head and neck cancer pathway, including acute care, outpatient support & rehabilitation and end of life care.
As the largest hospital in Wales, there are many opportunities to take part in world leading research and innovations, education opportunities and strong public engagement links. CAVUHB is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services and the SLT H&N team are actively involved in research, having close links to the Cardiff University and other national centres.
The role will be supported by our strong clinical and leadership teams from within SLT, Therapies and the wider UHB that are committed to service innovation, research & development and compassionate leadership.
Because of this great support system, we are able to also offer this as a developing role to current Band 6 SLTs who may not have had experience in Head & Neck Cancer but who do have good clinical skills and have a keen interest in the specialty.
