Join our dedicated Highway Inspection team and play a crucial role in keeping our roads safe for all users!

Our Highway Inspection team is committed to maintaining the highway through thorough inspections and defect identification, in line with the Highways Act 1980. By fulfilling our duty, we ensure the safety of highway users and deliver exceptional service to our stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities

Working closely with the Inspection Manager, other Highway Inspectors, and teams across the authority, you'll ensure we deliver top-notch service in accordance with our policies and procedures. This is your chance to make a tangible impact on the safety and quality of our highways.

As a Highway Inspector, you will:

  • Conduct driven, walked, or cycled inspections.

  • Receive, prioritise, investigate, and respond to service-related queries, including enforcement actions.

  • Represent the council in claims against the authority, including court appearances.

  • Manage your workload to complete inspections and enquiries within set timescales.

    What you'll have:

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Can handle a range of issues and conflicting demands while adhering to legislation.

  • Deliver to tight deadlines and remains calm under pressure.

  • Hold or willing to train for relevant accreditation (Highway Safety Inspectors Training, NRSWA Supervisors card, LANTRA 12D).

  • Has experience in highway maintenance and safety inspections.

  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office and safety inspection systems like CONFIRM.

  • Full clean UK driving licence., Disability Confident
