Benchmarx stands as a specialist in kitchens and, Charlotte joined the Travis Perkins Group with no previous experience in the industry but has since gained a promotion and is now Assistant Manager at our Tool Hire branch in Hemel Hempstead

    Joining our family as a Tool Hire Customer Apprentice, you’ll help customers find the tools they need and arrange a hiring contract. It could be anything from earth-movers to drills, but whatever equipment is required, safety will always be your priority. With your support and fantastic service, you’ll have customers singing our praises.

  • Hours of work: Our branches are open Monday - Friday from 7.30am - 5.00pm and Saturdays from 7.30am - 12.00pm. You will work 42.5 hours per week on a shift pattern during these opening hours and will be required to work every other Saturday morning.
    Salary: £Competitive + 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, colleague bonus, life assurance, sharesave scheme and group wide colleague discounts across the Travis Perkins Group (including Toolstation). On top of all of this, we have a number of online discounts at leading retailers from airport parking to theme parks to eating out and cinemas.
    How will we support you?
    Right from the start of your career with us, you’ll be supported in your development. You’ll join our Certificate in Tool Hire Programme, a 12 month Apprenticeship that will give you the tools to be successful in your role. Over the length of your apprenticeship programme, you’ll explore:
  • Our safety culture within branch

  • How to service and maintain our tools

  • The products we hire and the services we provide


  • Our Apprenticeships are focused on your development and factor study time into your working week, so you can achieve your qualification without affecting your work-life balance. We provide you with a fantastic support network through; 1:1 coaching, mentoring and technical and skills training to enable you to progress your career with us. Along the way, our experienced team will provide you with plenty of support to ensure you get the best out of your Apprenticeship. And it doesn’t have to end here, as we have a suite of Apprenticeship programmes that can support you to continue to develop your career with us, all the way up to the Boardroom.
