Full Job Description

Avantor is looking for a science-savvy Histology Technician to join our team based in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you'll be responsible for tissue sectioning, sample tracking, Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining, and maintaining compliance with GCP and HTA regulations.,

  • Perform tissue sectioning, construct Tissue Microarrays (TMAs), and manage xenograft sample banks with accurate tracking and organization
  • Execute IHC staining and slide scanning to generate digital images, supporting biomarker research and analysis
  • Ensure adherence to GCP, HTA regulations, SHE standards, and carry out COSHH assessments for new reagents
  • Track human samples through LIMS and support scientists with inventory management and continuous process improvement
  • Work effectively with scientists, internal teams, and external vendors to resolve issues, ensuring smooth sample handling and laboratory operations

    Education: A scientific degree in bioscience/life sciences or equivalent experience
  • Experience:
  • Laboratory experience in histopathology and tissue sectioning
  • Strong knowledge of GCP, Human Tissue Act (HTA) regulations, and experience in Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining and sample management systems
  • Proficiency in using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and Microsoft Word/Excel for data entry and analysis
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) regulations and ability to work in compliance with laboratory safety standards

    This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00 The Team As a part of a small team within The Translational Pathology Laboratory Group, you'll support biomarker identification and analysis for drug projects, ranging from early-stage development to Phase I and II clinical trials. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
