Full Job Description
The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
There is an opportunity for two students to work as an outreach assistant for a school's workshop.
Duties may include:
-Meet and welcome school when they arrive on campus.
-Take students to the designated room where the lecture and workshop will take place.
-Assist with the delivery of the workshop, by working with small groups of students on set activity.
-Take students on tour of the campus.
-Give short presentation / talk to students about your experience of studying History at MMU.
-Take students back to the coach drop off point at the end of the session.
-Give out HEAT tracker and evaluation forms and collect at end of session.
-Be familiar with Twitter, and willing to take on responsibility to share short post about the event on MMU's social media platform (Twitter), Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
This role is only open to students who are fully registered with Jobs4Students (this includes having attended a right to work appointment and meet the following requirements):
-This role is particularly suitable for History students, although other related disciplines will also be considered for the role. We would particularly encourage students who have studied / have an interest in American history to apply. The role would also suit students who have an interest in entering the teaching profession and who would like to gain experience working with young people.
-The role would suit students who enjoy mixing with young people, and who feel confident in delivering short presentations in an engaging way. For this activity, you would also be responsible for giving a short tour of the campus to students. In this role you will be part of a small team, but you will also use your own initiative in putting together a tour of the MMU campus and a short presentation on what it is like to study History at university level.
