About the role:

This exciting role offers a unique opportunity to lead the Contract Management and Performance function, providing vital business assurance to the Prison Director while adhering to HMPPS and Mitie policies. You will manage a dynamic team responsible for ICT, Health, Safety, Fire, Litigation, Audits, Performance, Complaints, Finance, Resourcing, Staff Training, and Catering. Your key responsibilities include overseeing IT systems to align technology with business goals, fostering a culture of respect and commitment to excellence, and supporting a safe, rehabilitative environment for both staff and prisoners. You will develop and implement health and safety policies, ensure compliance with regulations, and achieve Prison performance targets. Additionally, you will design impactful training programmes, drive initiatives, and deliver formal audit outcomes while investigating incidents and managing IT investments effectively, making a significant impact in this crucial role

Main Duties:

The post holder will oversee Prison resourcing, ensuring optimal use of resources while meeting prisoner needs. They will liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations and the company's reputation.

The role involves integrating HMCIP 'Expectations' into policies and raising staff awareness. The post holder will foster a culture of respect, dignity, and continuous improvement, manage serious incidents as Silver Commander, and serve as Duty Director.

Participation in Mitie initiatives, including succession planning, is required. They will lead performance measures, contract outcomes, and target achievement, ensuring compliance with policies. The post holder will support employee engagement and maintain self-audit compliance.

Responsibilities include delivering a minimum of Level 3 HMIP ratings, managing risks, and maximizing operational resources. They will oversee key projects and ensure the Annual Custodial Service Delivery Plan's delivery. As a Senior Management Team member, they will undertake additional duties to ensure effective prison operations.

Senior-level experience in a custodial environment with a commitment to ensuring safety, decency, and security for all.

-Strong understanding of restorative leadership, including the skills to motivate and engage others.

-Proven track record in performance improvement and managing key performance indicators to enhance service delivery.

-Knowledge of third-party expectations, including HMIP.

-Commercial and financial acumen, including budget management and driving financial efficiencies.

-Experience in line management, supporting, and coaching staff to achieve effective results across various functions.
