Full Job Description

Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

· Plan and implement weekly coaching sessions, including set up and use of relevant equipment, for the School's hockey groups and teams as allocated by your line manager.

· Analyse requirements and design and implement training sessions aimed at improving confidence and technique in required areas.

· Assume responsibility for team selection.

· Accompany the students to fixtures, both home and away. This includes supervising students on the bus for away fixtures.

· Umpire home fixtures.

· Liaise with Games staff regarding any student or parent query relating to your work as hockey coach.

· Encourage and motivate students both individually and as a team.

· Attend to any first aid requirement, escalating any problems as necessary to a member of the Games staff.

· To undertake weekly coaching sessions for cricket and/or rounders in the summer term.

The professional, technical or academic qualifications that the Applicant must have to undertake the role or the training that they must have received

· England Hockey Coach Level 1

· A First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to undertake this paid for by School)

The categories of work or organisations, types of achievements and activities that would be likely to predict success in the role

· Experience of playing club hockey regularly (either currently or in the past)

· A minimum of 2 years of experience of sports coaching

12 month fixed term contract - term time only 1pm-5.30pm (22.5 hours per week plus some additional hours by agreement)
