Full Job Description

· To act as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionally accountable for own unsupervised actions guided by the professional code of conduct and Trust guidelines and protocols.
· To provide expert nutrition advice, independently or in collaboration with other Health professionals within and external to the organisation.
· To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
· To develop Dietetic care pathways, within that own area to develop practice.
· To produce resources pertaining to own area & to participate in the design and evaluation of other material as required.
· Critically evaluate existing evidence (local, national and international) in order to provide expert nutrition advice to the development of evidence-based, culturally appropriate patient education and information materials, within financial constraints., Leadership
Attend and contribute to department meetings, CPD meetings, Professional Update and other appropriate meetings.
Prepare for and equally contribute to the appraisal, supervision and CPD processes.
Undertake defined recruitment activities for junior dietetic staff and/or admin staff
To participate in the audit process, linking in with the clinical governance agenda.
To advise, encourage and share knowledge utilising the latest research and practice development, through literature and peer reviews.
Clinical Skills
To be responsible, and accountable, for service delivery to clients/patients.
To ensure practice is supported by research, evidence based practice, literature and peer review.
Advise healthcare professionals , parents, carers and patients concerning patients' nutrition and dietetic management and attend relevant meetings and case conferences. This will involve nutritional assessment and calculating nutritional requirements.
Provide expert nutrition advice.
To have a good working knowledge of the use of enteral feeding pumps and equipment., This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 p.a. pro rata for part time)., To act as mentor to students, providing effective education, facilitating their development and promoting high standards of Dietetic care.
