Homeless Advise & Prevention Officer

Neway currently has a vacancy for a Homeless Advise & Prevention Officer to join our client based with West Lancashire Borough Council. This role is starting on the 12th of November, working 35 hours a week, initially for a 3 month contract that is likely to be extended. Purpose of the Role: To interview and assess those people who present as homeless or potentially homeless to establish any responsibilities the Council may have in accordance with the relevant legislation. To provide practical advice and assistance on housing options, securing temporary, supported and permanent accommodation and preventing homelessness by providing timely advice.

Experience of working in a housing or advice setting Knowledge of Part VI & VII of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 2004, associated private sector housing and building legislation and Codes of Guidance Knowledge of the Protection from Eviction Act 1977 Good research skills Competent keyboard and IT skills To have an understanding of Data Protection legislation with respect of client confidentiality To have an understanding of tenancy relations issues in the private sector
