Full Job Description
Manchester Adult Education has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivating Maths skills lecturer to join our Maths and English team. The role will involve the planning, delivery and assessment of part-time adult courses. This is a casual (hourly paid) role teaching daytimes and some evening sessions. Casual roles can be short term cover for sickness or training or longer term teaching a regular class. These courses include:
- Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2)
- GCSE Maths
- Context specific courses Key responsibilities: To teach online lessons (where appropriate) as well as teaching in our centres across the city as needed, this may involve the occasional evening class You will be joining a committed and supportive team of teachers who are passionate industry specialists who work together to support the adult learners in the community to achieve their goals and secure employment or advance to higher education. To deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard To assess learners and work accurately against appropriate awarding body criteria/key course targets to ensure learners achieve their qualifications/course goals. To comply with safeguarding procedures.
- - C / 9 - 4 in English or equivalent (essential) Hold GCSE A
- - C / 9 - 4 in Maths or equivalent (essential) Hold a teaching qualification, ideally to Level 5 (subject specialism) or willingness to work towards Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
