An opportunity has arisen for a housekeeper on our Winter ward within the emergency care division,
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individual. You will need to be innovative and adaptable, and be a positive member of our busy team. Be flexible and able to work within other area's if needed.
The position involves ensuring that the cleaning, catering, laundry, supplies and maintenance levels are sufficient in the clinical area to meet the needs of the patient, The role also consists of liaising with patients relatives and multi disciplinary teams across the trust so communication and good I.T skills are a must., The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward team. He/she will be responsible for the coordination of all patient non clinical facilities/services in the ward area and for ensuring a clean, safe and
comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role are, ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering, linen, minor maintenance, equipment maintenance, health and safety, supplies, infection control, customer care, together with
other specified tasks to meet patient needs, as agreed with the ward manager/matron.
The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and support services. He/she will monitor quality standards and arrange for deficiencies to be rectified.
SERVICE DELIVERY-11 Standards
Cleaning

  • To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards in the department To ensure staff carry out cleaning tasks.

  • To carry out spot cleaning to ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

  • To ensure general and specialist medical equipment is cleaned as per cleaning policy.

  • To ensure the department is safe and tidy at all times.

  • To identify any problems with cleanliness and report to the Divisional Supervisor.

  • To ensure specialist cleaning of surfaces and furnishings.

  • To ensure isolation nursing areas are cleaned appropriately.

  • Catering
  • To ensure that light refreshments are available for patients if required.

  • To prepare and serve hot/cold snacks (e.g., toast) as requested

  • To assist nursing staff with hot/cold beverages including appropriate trolley/equipment.

  • To ensure all food and beverages are served in a timely manner.

  • To ensure a pleasant environment for patients is maintained at all times.

  • To take responsibility for the ward/department kitchen, ensuring it is clean at all times.

  • To ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly as per policy

  • To co-ordinate extra meal requirements that may arise.

  • Linen
  • Ensure there is enough clean linen in the department.

  • Communicate with linen services as the need arises to resolve any problem.

    Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.
