Full Job Description
The housekeeper should relate to all care disciplines to ensure the provision of a high quality and safe environment for service users. This would include some cleaning and assisting with meal service and minor maintenance, together with any other specified tasks as identified by the Ward Management Team., 1. To assist in maintaining cleaning standards on the Ward, including specialist cleaning of surfaces and furnishings and check all jobs on the cleaning checklist are completed. 2. To ensure general and specialist equipment e.g. wheelchairs/hoists are cleaned as per cleaning policy and the batteries checked. 3. To ensure all areas of the Ward are maintained and are safe and tidy at all times. 4. To identify any problems with cleanliness and report to the Ward Manager. 5. To maintain a hygienic environment including communal areas and patients' bedrooms / bathrooms. 6. To maintain complete confidentiality with regard to all patient issues. 7. - NVQ Level 1 cleaning or equivalent experience.
- Care/hospitality supervision and cleaning, equivalent experience.
- Basic Food Hygiene.
- Working towards/a requirement/willingness to achieve relevant NVQ's up to level 3 through training and ward induction. Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in cleaning.
- NVQ Level 2 in Care
- Food Hygiene Certificate., Good basic knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety. Including infection control.
- Customer service, internal and external.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families and carers.
- Work effectively in teams, appreciating the roles of other staff and agencies involved in the care of patients.
- Fully understand and respect the respective rights and feelings of patients and their families, seeking out and addressing their needs.
- Responsibility for some financial handling.
- Organisation skills. Desirable criteria
- Knowledge/experience of cooking for a number of people., In a similar environment or equivalent.
- To be able to train others in Housekeeping duties. Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience.
