Full Job Description

Part Time - 30 hours per week.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Housekeeper/Storekeeper to join our dedicated Theatre Team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post holder will be expected to perform a range of tasks operating both within a team and independently. You will be involved in all aspects of indirect patient care under supervision of the Team Leader, ensuring the tidiness and appearance of our Operating Theatre Department.
The successful candidate will be expected to continue the efforts of our hard-working team to ensure that high standard and safe working practices are maintained, which is conducive for our patients, visitors and dedicated staff.
This position is based at Whiston Hospital, however the post holder may be required to work across both Whiston and St Helens Hospital sites.

+ To accept responsibility for specifically delegated functions within theatres which the Team Leader feels are appropriate for untrained staff to undertake.
+ To ensure the health and Safety of patients and staff are considered at all times.
+ To ensure that privacy and confidentiality of patients is paramount and is not compromised.
+ To be aware and assist with maintaining stock levels in theatres for clinical and non-clinical items,
+ Ensure that theatre supplies are appropriately stored and that stocks are at the levels set by the materials management team
+ All stock is to be checked against delivery note and put away when brought from logistics on a weekly/daily basis and ensure correct correspondence with purchase invoices and report any discrepancies.
+ To ensure stock is rotated according to their expiry dates.
+ To ensure the theatre department including non-clinical areas are clean and tidy at all times.

+ To ensure the scrubs holding area is clean and tidy at all times.
+ To maintain staff tearoom fridges and microwaves as per Trust Policy.
+ To maintain infection control and prevention as per trust policy.
+ To comply with all other Trust policies and procedures.
+ To collect/deliver items or messages to and from departments within the Trust
+ This role involves moving and handling of bulk stock items using various methods such as stock cages and trolleys. Relevant training will be provided as required.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
+ To attend regular mandatory update training, fire lectures, moving and handling and resuscitation training within the requirements of the trusts health and safety policy.
+ To support learners in the area as own skills develop. Assist in the training and developing for individuals undergoing training in your area.
