Full Job Description
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a centre of excellence for research, development, education and care in the treatment of cancer. The opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Housekeeper to work as an integral part of the team ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment on the Bud Flanagan West Ward. They will work closely with cleaning services, nurses and HCAs to promote infection control and safety within the unit, maintaining the quality of standards expected within the Royal Marsden. The Ward Housekeeper will work as an integral part of the ward team. He/she will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities/services in the ward area and for ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The main elements of this role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse. The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and support services departments. He/she will monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies.,
- To ensure patients have adequate supplies to meet their basic needs, eg. toiletries as required.
- To maintain appropriate stock levels to meet patient and staff needs.
- To assist patients with written information, eg. reading letters, menus etc.
- To explain the correct use of equipment to patients, eg. nurse call, telephone, TV.
- To respond to health emergencies as appropriate.
- To answer the ward telephone when appropriate.
