Full Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and empathetic Housing Advisor to join our Children's and Young People Services team. As part of the Housing Development team, you will provide expert guidance to professionals working with young people facing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

Your role and responsibilities
You will:
- provide housing advice and assistance to professionals/caseworkers in line with current legislation and the organisation's policy, providing a professional, sensitive and confidential service
- ensure proactive steps are taken to comply with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- be aware of local housing authorities obligations under the prevent and relief duties of the act, in order to prevent homelessness by engaging in effective partnership working, negotiating and/or mediating, and providing accurate advice and assistance
- support the professional/caseworker who is working with young people who are in need of housing and assist where appropriate, to retain their existing accommodation or advise them of the full range of alternative housing options available
- advise/provide the young person with a personalised housing plan in conjunction with the local housing team if they are threatened with homelessness or become homeless.

You will need
- awareness of the 1996 Housing Act and the 2017 Homelessness Reduction Act and its implementation
- awareness of the 1989 Children's Act as amended by 200 Children Leaving Care Act
- knowledge of areas related to homelessness prevention such as employment and relationship issues
- previous experience in providing housing advice and using homelessness legislation.

£26,421 per annum (pro rata for part time)
- 37 hours per week - Flexible working options available
