Full Job Description
We are excited to announce two fantastic new opportunities for Housing Officers (Migration) to join our Strategic Housing team and contribute towards our vision of delivering outstanding housing services across the Borough. Given the current national context around asylum and refugee resettlement, Rochdale Borough Council is expanding its capacity to ensure that asylum seekers and refugees receive support as early as possible within the asylum system. These newly created roles will sit directly within the Council's Housing Services but will work closely within a cross-departmental team, focusing on key thematic areas and outcome-driven interventions. These areas include community resettlement and navigation, employment and skills development, and access to housing. About you As a Housing Officer (Migration), you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and supporting the Council's response to key national initiatives, including the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, ARAP/ACRS Resettlement, and supporting other households resettling in Rochdale. You will have the opportunity to continually improve processes and procedures in response to these national schemes, ensuring we remain at the forefront of new developments in housing and migration services. In this role, you'll also work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, partners, and agencies, such as Serco, the Home Office, the Regional Strategic Migration Partnership, the
- Greater Manchester Combined Authorities By building strong relationships, you will help to enhance the support provided to individuals and families in asylum dispersal and contingency accommodation. You will also support the setup of a new Rochdale Refugee Asylum Support service (RRASS), closely linked with existing Council services, taking a collaborative approach across multiple directorates, including Works & Skills, Adult Care and Children's Services and wider Council teams. We are looking for passionate individuals who are committed to making a real, positive difference in the lives of residents across our Borough. You will be enthusiastic about playing a proactive role in helping us achieve our housing and integration goals. In this role, you will embrace the challenge of working with colleagues, customers, landlords, tenants, developers, and third sector partners to deliver real outcomes.
The ideal candidates will have a strong background aligned with the person specification, along with the ability to demonstrate relevant experience. Proficiency in an additional language commonly spoken by refugees and asylum seekers is highly desirable.
