Full Job Description

As a Housing Officer you can make your own powerful contribution. This is a great opportunity to make a genuine, positive difference to people's lives and neighbourhood. And to do it in one of the UK's most famous places.

It's an incredibly varied job. Managing a designated patch of properties, you'll lead on neighbourhood issues and provide a visible presence in the area. You'll work with residents and neighbourhood stakeholders on an almost limitless variety of issues. From supporting the welfare of our most vulnerable people, to submitting applications for environmental awards, to enabling major regeneration schemes - and everything in-between - you'll improve lives and futures in the community. Along the way, you'll develop skills and experience in everything from time management to legal action.

Your challenge will be to navigate people's differences and ensure everyone's views are represented. It helps that you'll be part of a highly diverse team from a wide range of backgrounds. Together, you're all perfectly placed to understand and support Westminster's vibrant communities. You'll find your colleagues to be dedicated and hard-working. They share your equal commitment to delivering both the technical and the caring aspects of the Housing Officer role: handling cases to deadlines, while always keeping a focus on residents' wellbeing.

While experience in a housing management role and knowledge of tenancy law would definitely be an advantage, neither is essential. We expect you to demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills, and to be literate and numerate to a good standard.

But what matters most is your way with people. A team player with excellent communication skills, you have proven experience of dealing with the public or providing customer service. Your enthusiasm, drive and focus on making a difference for people is exactly what we're looking for.
