Full Job Description

  • LAA supervisor accreditation preferred but not necessary.


  • Conduct a caseload of Legal Aid Funded cases including but not limited to Possession, Homelessness, Injunctions and Disrepair.


  • Represent clients under the Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service Contracts.


  • Ability to manage appropriate Legal Aid caseload types and complexities.


  • Housing Disrepair Fee Earner / Solicitor to establish department. Experienced preferred., We are looking to recruit a Housing Advisor to provide a structured advice and information service to clients of the centre in housing law, housing options and aspects of welfare benefits that relate to housing and homelessness. This is an exciting role in our Advice team that will manage a specialist housing caseload and provide emergency housing advice to clients in crisis. You will work closely with other teams in the centre to ensure clients are offered an integrated holistic service. You will also build and maintain good relationships with statutory and other partners and to work together with them to get the best outcomes for our clients and to monitor unmet need locally so that this can be addressed.

It follows a report we published last year on the lived experience of families living in temporary accommodation. We are delighted to have secured funding to help us build on this research and pilot different approaches to reach those most in need. We want to develop support that not only meets emergency needs but can enable longer term outcomes. Our aim is to build the case for positive change and reduce future rates of homelessness and poverty. In this role you can play a part in designing, testing and evidencing different approaches with a team of colleagues that cross different advice specialisms and professional family support.

    We are seeking an experienced and passionate Housing Law Specialist to join our expanding team. The candidate will offer housing law advice and representation to clients under the HLPAS contract in the following areas; Bradford, Skipton, Harrogate, York, Scarborough, Wakefield and Huddersfield.

    We are looking to recruit an Advice Supervisor with Welfare Right or Housing experience to help us develop and expand our service to better meet the needs of these vulnerable groups, and to maintain our agility to respond to emerging needs in the future. This is a new and exciting role in our Advice team that will supervise, and line manage Welfare Rights Specialists or Housing Advisors within the Advice Team. You will also provide a structured information, advice and casework service (including representation at tribunal where appropriate) to clients of the centre with complex housing or welfare rights issues. In addition to this, you will provide second tier advice and training in welfare rights or housing for generalist advisors and other staff/volunteers who are not specialists in those fields.

    Salary between £21,000 - £42,000. Salary to be discussed depending on experience.
