Full Job Description

We are a Disability Confident Employer - committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.

You will bring to the role a real passion for tackling homelessness. To do this effectively, it is important that you demonstrate familiarity with relevant Lettings, Homelessness and Housing Act legislation, including security of tenure. Crucially, you have the people skills to provide a friendly and helpful experience to customers, based around listening to their needs and being an advocate for their best interests. Equally important is the ability to gather information, interpret complex issues, write detailed technical letters and reports, and provide creative and positive solutions., This post is covered by the Fluency Duty, as outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people at the heart of everything we do. Everyone in our Housing Solutions service is passionate about making sure everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has a safe and secure place to call home. The work is as deeply fulfilling as it is challenging. Join this forward-thinking team and you will have access to a career path with impressive scope and opportunity. Most importantly, you will make a real difference to the life outcomes of some of our community's most vulnerable individuals.

As Housing Solutions Officer (Tenancy Relations) you will play an active role in tackling homelessness. You will help to stop people from becoming homeless, and help to relieve homelessness for those who have already lost a place to live.

Building great relationships with tenants, you will focus on solutions, not problems. You will also help to arrange and develop ways for us to get helpful information out into the world - from outreach surgeries where we can advise vulnerable people in the community, to online resources, as well as sharing vital information with public bodies and potential partners in homelessness prevention and reduction.

When we receive referrals, you will provide a rapid, effective and efficient response, making sure we fulfil our duty to those who need our help. Your responsibilities will also include assessing, investigating and verifying applications from people who want to join the Housing Register, including conducting interviews.

You can look forward to full training and support to thrive in this role and progress within the team. The variety of training on offer ranges from housing law through to domestic abuse, so you can take a holistic approach to making a difference for people who need help.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
