Full Job Description
The role of a Housing Support Worker is to provide housing related support across learning disability services to assist customers to maintain their tenancies and to ensure that services are compliant with Housing, H&S, Fire Safety and Care Regulations.
Main duties will include ensuring that all Complex LD services are compliant with living standards and other H&S checks. Ensuring that fire inductions are adequate and fire safety checks are completed in line with P&P for all sites.
As Housing Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the services within your patch maintain high quality standards for H&S, fire safety and living standards audits/checks and that HB claims are all submitted in a timely manner and any tenancy issues are effectively addressed working alongside the Look Ahead Housing Management Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all support is delivered in compliance with Look Ahead's policy and procedures.
This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2025.
All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK by the start of employment as Look Ahead are not able to offer sponsorship.
What you'll do:
Operational Accountabilities:
Familiarise yourself with customers needs and profiles
To model Look Ahead values, policies & procedures
Organise and provide appropriate support for tenants preparing to move-on to greater independence, including applying for any grants to support the move and resettlement into their new home.
In line with P&P, be proactive in Safeguarding customers
Housing Management:
Monitor non payment of rent, liaise with support team/manager and where appropriate propose action that can be taken to improve the situation in line with the agreed policy and procedures on arrears.
Assist to sort out complicated HB claims
Ensure that good practice and equality of opportunity is followed
Property Maintenance:
Report, order and inspect day to day repairs and estate maintenance, monitoring the performance of Look Ahead contractors.
Ensure that fire and other equipment is regularly serviced, tested and complies with health and safety requirements.

Have housing management and support experience
Have the ability to deliver excellent housing and support services
Be fundamentally calm and resilient, will not let emotion adversely affect them or obscure their judgement
Be practical and methodical
Have excellent organisation skills and be able to work effectively under pressure
What you'll bring:
Essential:
Knowledge of Safeguarding, MHA, DOLs, MCA and regulatory frameworks
Experience of delivering housing management performance targets
Experience of effectively managing and developing staff to ensure delivery of services performance targets within contract
Desirable
Other relevant professional memberships and/or specialist qualifications
Holds relevant Health and Social Care management qualification - eg QCF Level 5
