Full Job Description

Our IT team are looking for an HPC Engineer who has the passion and determination to make a positive impact on the performance of our team via our High-Performance Compute environments, infrastructure systems and end user Linux environments. You will be providing input and taking ownership for projects that will impact across our business and your work will contribute directly to ensuring we continuously develop our position as an F1 Leader on and off the track. We do this by utilising a DevOps and automation first mindset to drive our processes and ensure that we can perform reliably at scale to the highest level. Working collaboratively with team members across a broad cross-section of disciplines and technologies, you will be heavily involved in the planning, development, and optimisation of all systems, helping to improve the end-to-end user experience across the team.

Key Accountabilities (Duties):
+ Being a champion of automation, collaboration & innovation
+ Working within a DevOps focused environment.
+ Providing assistance business-wide supporting a wide range of FOSS tools.
+ Become a go-to person and mentor for Linux, automation & HPC topics across the wider IT team.
+ Project leadership, management, planning and development of multiple HPC environments.
+ Diagnosing, managing and resolving system configuration on systems ensuring high availability.
+ Maintaining and supporting our monitoring and observability platforms.
+ Troubleshooting software / system issues on a wide range of HPC and Infrastructure platforms.
+ Maximising efficiency and performance of available resources
+ Documenting methods & procedures.
+ Management of patches and routine update cycles.
To be successful you will
+ Bring a wide range of experience and skills and be able to combine them with a high attention to detail, enthusiasm, and curiosity

+ Proven Linux experience.
+ A degree level qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
+ Knowledge of DevOps methodology & tools (Git, Azure DevOps, Github, Gitlab).
+ Knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef)
+ Shell scripting and debugging, Experience of administering and supporting alerting and monitoring tools.
+ Strong networking skills (TCP/IP, Routing, DHCP, DNS)
+ A practical individual who is also comfortable strategizing and dividing their time between project work, support, and maintenance, and able to work both independently and within a highly collaborative team.
+ Organised and initiative-taking, able to communicate clearly, and willing to take ownership and accountability for their work in current and future platforms and processes.
+ Keen to use intuition to perform deeper analysis of problems outside of initial skills and knowledge, Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with continual demands and changing priorities, Confident and with proven ability to execute operations and changes within an ITIL environment.
Desirable
+ HPC experience desirable (Schedulers, Parallel Applications & Domain Specific Tools).
+ Bare Metal provisioning (PXE, TFTP, Foreman, MaaS, Warewulf, xCAT).
+ Containerisation Technologies (Docker / Singularity / LXC / LXD / Apptainer).
+ Software Defined Storage administration and configuration (Object, File & Block).
+ Linux GPU acceleration (Nvidia CUDA, ROCm HiP, OpenCL)
+ Experience of high performance, low latency network technologies would be a bonus (InfiniBand, RoCE), Working knowledge of performance tuning would be beneficial
+ Experience of working with and utilising Cloud Native technologies (S3 Storage, Kubernetes & CSI, Microservices Architectures and Public Clouds), Basic understanding of design and manufacturing practices would be advantageous.
