Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated HR Advisor with a focus on Employee Relations to join Walsall Council's HR team. The role involves providing expert HR advice on a range of issues including discipline, grievance, attendance management, and performance. You will also support Senior HR Advisors with complex cases and contribute to recruitment, restructuring, and other employee change processes.,

  • Offer professional HR advice on employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment law and council policies.
  • Manage routine cases related to attendance and support Senior HR Advisors in handling disciplinary, grievance, and performance matters.
  • Assist in recruitment and restructuring activities, providing advice on redeployment and resourcing.
  • Support HR initiatives such as system improvements, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Prepare documentation for appeals and employment tribunals, collaborating with HR managers and senior staff.

    Proven experience in managing a varied HR caseload, ideally within an employee relations environment.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and local government policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical advice.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • CIPD qualification (or working towards) or equivalent HR experience.
