Full Job Description

Walsall's HR Advice and Operations Team are seeking 3 enthusiastic and experienced HR Advisors to join the award-winning HR team on an initial 18-month fixed term contract subject to review. We have recognised that our workload is high, as we move to improving our service we want a better work life balance for the team, so we are expanding to achieve that goal and continue to make this a great place to work. The role of a HR Advisor is varied, you will be advising on policy, process, pay and much more, whilst supporting managers and employees to reach outcomes that help us deliver world class and award-winning services to the residents of Walsall. The role includes:

  • Providing advice in respect of, policy and guidance
  • To work effectively under pressure to observe deadlines and work independently and as part of a team
  • Prepare and present the Council's case at relevant hearings, appeals and tribunal procedures
  • Deal with a varied caseload of HR queries and investigations
  • Assisting the Team of Senior HR Advisors to develop reporting, deliver a proactive HR support to our service users and help improve response rates to HR queries.
  • Support in the development and improvement of the OneSource Oracle system.

    You will need to be CIPD qualified (or actively working towards your qualification) and/or have relevant experience in a HR field
  • Demonstrate excellent IT skills especially the use of MS Office
  • You must be able to demonstrate experience of advising managers and employees on a range of HR policies and processes
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be willing to pitch in, and make suggestions for improvements
