Full Job Description

National Highways are looking for a HR Advisor (L&D and Talent) to join our Human Resources directorate based in Birmingham. A role where no two days are the same, the HR Advisor will provide an excellent customer-focused service through providing support and guidance to our people on HR policies, procedures, and guidance.

As an HR Advisor, you'll work closely with key stakeholders across HR and the wider business to swiftly resolve issues, focusing on Learning & Development, Early Talent, and Talent Management administration and support.

This role will be worked on a hybrid basis, with 2 days per week in the office at The Cube, Birmingham.

What you'll be leading on

  • Act as the first point of contact for L&D, Early Talent, and Talent queries from employees through multiple channels including phone calls, queries, emails, and project activity, escalating where necessary to enable resolution within prescribed service level agreements.

  • Manage future learning needs requests for assigned directorates, scheduling a forward plan of learning events, through our Training Delivery Team and external suppliers.

  • Maintain employee training and learning records on our learning platform, Thrive.

  • Run system reports, gather and share data in agreed formats as requested.

  • Keep accurate records e.g. trackers, spreadsheets, as required for all tasks undertaken to enable all activities to be monitored.

  • Understand and be able to explain HR policies and processes to managers and employees, e.g. training, study leave, apprenticeships, early talent and talent management., Our role in Human Resources is to support, develop and nurture our people so that we can all achieve our full potential.     HR generalist experience with knowledge of learning and development and administration of training events (desirable).

  • Working towards a CIPD qualification or willingness to undertake.

  • General customer service experience using telephony and ticket-based systems.

  • Sound administrative skills with the ability to organise own workload, act on own initiative, and take ownership.

  • Experience of working in a multi-faceted fast-paced environment to specified service levels and KPI's.

  • Vocational or standard qualifications - either GCSE/A Levels or NVQ/Apprenticeship (Essential).
