Full Job Description

  • Undertake generalist HR tasks in respect of administering the employee lifecycle (e.g. resignation, maternity benefits, and other contract variations as necessary), generating standard letters where appropriate.
  • To process probation, in a timely manner, to chase pro-actively where necessary and ensure receipt of relevant documents in line with procedure, issuing letters following completion at 6 months
  • Assist the HR Manager in monitoring staff sickness absence by producing monthly reports, supporting them in taking further action, including initiating medical referrals to Occupational Health and taking follow up action where necessary (including letters to staff member).
  • To deal with enquiries from a number of sources, providing specialist advice on policy and procedure and resolving routine matters; referring more complex issues to the HR Manager.
  • Assist with employee relations casework, including arranging formal meetings and preparing paperwork for hearings and appeals. Take notes at meetings and hearings.
  • Advise the 'Investigating Officer' during Grievance and Disciplinary investigations, ensuring all reports and paperwork are written to correct standards.
  • Ensure employment related documents e.g. staff contracts, website, intranet etc. are kept up to date, comply with legislation and meet the requirements of the College
  • Participate in and/or lead HR Projects
  • Ensure any data feeding into Single Record is updated, recorded and maintained accurately and regularly.
  • Be aware of and follow College policies and procedures, with particular attention to health and safety, safeguarding, risk management, equality and diversity, quality and our values and behaviours. You will be required to attend training and CPD events as necessary

You should be proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.   • Certificate in Personnel Practice or relevant degree (commitment to work towards full CIPD qualification)
  • Microsoft office skills
  • Previous experience of working in HR (understand basic generalist processes and legislation - e.g. maternity rights)
  • Experience of using HR and Data Systems (iTrent)
  • SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with resolving people issues
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to act on own initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Tact, and the ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to work with little supervision, using own initiative.
  • Sound multi-tasking and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a complex and dynamic environment
