At Amazon, our HR Partners (HRPs) are known for their knowledge of HR programs, processes and tools. They act as the frontline consultant to people managers in creating a positive employee experience, offering consistent HR advice on people matters. They are subject matter experts, having sound knowledge in company and local programs, processes and policies, offering a strong and compelling point of view around HR related matters, thus building credibility. They effectively collaborate with multiple HR Business Partners, HR Specialists, and people managers across various businesses and geographies. A key area of focus for the HR Partner is to increase manager capability, enabling them to be more self-sufficient, and driving manager education on important people programs. Thanks to their visibility across businesses and their access to data on managers' and employees' requests, HRPs are in a position to be a proactive partner to the business, spotting trends and identifying emerging
needs; addressing them with innovative people programs, tools and processes. HRPs also act as process design experts, to identify opportunities for improvement in people processes and systems, design solutions, and partner across HR functions to drive implementation and adoption., The HR Partner Manager will lead a team of EU based HRPs (currently five) who act as influential partners in supporting managers. The EU HR Partner Manager will work with the International HRP Leader to develop and implement a strategic plan for the EU region. The HR Partner Manager will establish appropriate mechanisms, monitor team performance against objectives, and provide coaching and development to EU based HRPs. In addition, the role will also support select geo location(s) in the region in the capacity of a HR Partner.

HR Leadership:

  • Contribute to the HRP strategy for EU region with a strong focus on building a positive ER/LR environment


  • Provide thought leadership and strategic partnership to HRBPs and Business leaders in the region;


  • Be the voice of the region and actively surface challenges to COE and Partner teams


  • Coach HR Partners on complex employee relations and performance management cases


  • Lead an inclusive, collaborative team culture


  • Lead continuous improvement activities and team development across Devices & Services


  • Build and lead mechanisms that drive positive results related to business and PXT KPIs


  • Manager Enablement:

  • Build and drive audit mechanisms for proactive identification of manager pain points and capability gaps in the region


  • Enable the success of new & experienced managers by leveraging, delivering and improving existing training contents and Inside pages, and collaborating with the Devices Talent Development teams to anticipate and address emerging needs.


  • Support managers and employees in identifying training opportunities to further develop functional and managerial skills.


  • Support people managers with career conversations, Development Plans/Career Growth Plans and other development initiatives.


  • Design and deliver Manager Education initiatives to further drive collective education and manager effectiveness


  • Employee Relations & Support:

  • Process ownership for Employee Relations management, including disciplinary & performance improvement for issues not supported by the central Employee Relations team.


  • Consult managers on people matters that require in depth knowledge of policies, procedures and local legislation, across multiple locations.


  • Conduct investigations and manage ER cases, in coordination with the Employee Relations and with the Legal departments.


  • Support EU regional work related to Works Councils and other employee representative bodies


  • Performance management:

  • Work with people managers end to end on performance management cases.


  • Analyze data and trends on ER and performance management, in order to provide input to the business strategy to HRBP, preventing the recurrence of known issues.


  • Talent Management:

  • Coach, train and guide managers during the Talent Management and Annual Compensation Planning processes.


  • Consult Managers on Compensation matters.


  • Develop toolkit and communications that help managers to be self-sufficient with Talent Reviews.


  • Organization and change management:

  • Manage employees' programs and support managers to drive improvements in employees' engagement.


  • Provide support and guidance to HR Business Partners and Business Managers on change initiatives.


  • HR General:

  • Act as stewards of the employee experience and Amazon "culture keepers"


  • Act as Point of Contact and Program Manager for people tools, processes, programs or projects.


  • Analyze data and observations across the organization, highlighting trends and recommending/driving solutions, as appropriate


  • Alongside this core case work, the HRP team have responsibility for policy and compliance at country level, which necessitates staying informed about any legislative or Amazon driven updates. Additionally, an important part of our HRP team's career development is to participate or lead project teams, focused on improving key HR processes (such as Talent or Performance management) across EMEA, or individual project assignments at country, or regional level.

    This role will provide support to managers with employees who are based in countries with Works Council representation. Collaboration with Works Council representatives is required and therefore previous Works Council experience is required.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent post-secondary degree, in Human Resources or related field


  • 7-10 years of relevant Human Resources experience


  • Experience directly managing and leading a team of HR professionals


  • Prior HR working experience Europe


  • Prior experience in European labor and employee relations


  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem solving skills, high judgment, critical thinking and analysis.


  • Strong communication skills; any additional languages beyond English are a plus


  • Experience providing HR support to multiple countries within the EMEA region


  • Prior experience supporting employee populations represented by Works Councils or trade unions


  • 2+ years of experience directly managing and leading a team of HR professionals


  • Drives recommendations and prioritization.


  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization.


  • Project management and execution skills.


  • Coaching and consulting skills.


  • Thrives in a high-pressure environment and able to manage multiple simultaneous priorities.


  • Possesses intellectual curiosity; brings insight into the team & business.


  • Proficiency working with remote management.
