Full Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Bolton Council's HR Team. This post is responsible for the research and development of HR policies and practices, including working with Trade Unions and our workforce to ensure our work positively impacts on the working lives of our staff.

The successful candidate will research, develop and take responsibility for the continuous improvement of HR policies, ensuring they contribute to our People Plan. You will learn and absorb relevant changes to employment law and terms & conditions, identifying implications and solutions, whilst researching and implementing new workforce initiatives. You will undertake benchmarking, research, and consultations, generating creative solutions to identified issues. You will also manage a range of initiatives including staff benefits, wellbeing and & EDI and job evaluation, as well as positively engaging with Trade Unions.

This is a fast-paced area of work, where teamwork and collaboration are key, and ambition and learning is encouraged! The successful candidate will be ambitious for the service, bringing new ideas and initiatives, thinking innovatively outside our current ways of working., This is a permanent, full time (37 hours) role. Following an office-based induction period, hybrid working is available to staff in line with Council policy, with the expectation that the majority of working hours are completed in Bolton Town Hall.

Are you creative and love a plan? Are you passionate about delivering an excellent service to the workforce?

You will be CIPD Level 5 qualified or hold a relevant degree, and have knowledge of employment legislation, policies and practices in HR.

Ideally you will have experience in policy creation and Trade Union/workforce engagement, with strong communication skills both written and verbal. You must be computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft packages.

Using your HR knowledge and research skills, you'll ensure that our policies reflect best practice and our values, are legally compliant and inform our equality and inclusion agenda.

The ideal person will have experience of working independently, in a team and with other internal/external stakeholders and have the ability to multi-task whilst delivering on key workforce projects, policies and staff benefits.

Grade G, scp23 £32,076 to scp27 £35,745 per annum - Pay award pending
