HVAC Mechanic - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Lakenheath. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience or willing to learn how to install, maintain, repair and modify large/complex systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering and circulating. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., If hired at full performance level W-06, the pay will be £14.55ph plus a Recruitment Incentive totaling £7,376.72 per year for four years. Subject to conditions., out, and install a variety of large complex commercial and industrial systems and supporting equipment used to heat and/or condition air in warehouses, shops, hangars, hospitals, and large office buildings. You will troubleshoot heating boilers, heating systems, and fuel power boilers with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions. In addition, you will troubleshoot a variety of large commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and supporting equipment. You will require the ability discern colours, contrast, and depth; a pre-employment physical is required for this role. This will be scheduled through RAF Lakenheath. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a Fixed Schedule Mon-Fri 0730-1600 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.

- -C) or BTEC level 2; Intermediate Level: W-04 - Level 2 - City & Guilds 6188-20/6188-21/6188-22/6288-21; Advanced Level: W-05 - Level 3 - City & Guilds 6188-30/6188-31/6188-32/6288-31 Fully Qualified Level: W-06 - Level 3 - City & Guilds 6188-30/6188-31/6188-32/6288-31 plus related experience You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying large/complex heating boilers, and single and multiple fuelled power boilers and support equipment including mechanical system controls and distribution lines and to install, repair, and modify large/complex systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering and circulating. In this position you will plan, lay, You will have knowledge of the methods of combustion, heat transfer principles, and fuel characteristics to inspect, install, test, repair, and maintain power boilers, domestic heating units and system, and auxiliary and pollution control equipment; the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration, properties of refrigerants, temperature measurement; and pneumatics, electricity, and basic electronics to locate faults in temperature controls and control devices, such as damper motors, mixing valves, and modulating motors. You will have knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; and regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation.You will show skill in performing maintenance on small electric motors, feed pumps, and valves; servicing power sources and replacing items such as belts, fans, and fuses; installing, aligning, adjusting, and repairing oil, gas, and coal burners and other burning mechanisms as well as heating boiler components; and skill in dismantling, repairing, balancing and reassembling pumps, impellers, compressors, chillers, receivers and evaporators on large and complex refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems, including replacing major portions of assigned systems. You will show skill in reading and applying work orders, blueprints, sketches, and other oral and written instructions as well as, skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and a variety of test equipment including special tools such as acetylene torch, ammeters, refrigeration gauges, electronic leak detectors, control devices, vacuum pump, hydraulic press, and micrometers. You will have ability to use shop mathematics to compute fuel consumption rates, heat generating units, and air-to-fuel ratios and conversions. Qualification requirements:
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid Category B driver's license is required for the position. Certificates must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Shift work may be required. You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Emergency overtime may be required. You may work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. You will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions. This position requires CFC/NCFC Certification (universal) as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F., EPA. You may be required to complete in-house system familiarization and pass review with DIO Authorized Person (Boilers and Pressure Systems) to gain Skilled Person certification as well as, you are required to maintain appropriate certifications in accordance with US and UK industry standards. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
