Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Hygiene Operative to join our brand new oat milling venture in Kettering. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this is a hands-on role and a great opportunity to join this organisation during a time of growth and expansion. We are looking for an experienced Hygiene Operative to support the team in delivering a range of quality products and services.

The role will be of a physical nature and will work closely with the Milling and Production teams to ensure that the food production areas are clean and meet food and feed safety standards.

This role will support compliance for environmental, food and feed safety and health and safety systems as well as opportunities for continuous improvement.,

  • Our Hygiene team work to extremely high standards and are integral to the running of Navara. Some of the tasks involved will be to;

  • Carry out all hygiene tasks required by the hygiene rota in each respective area that has been assigned

  • Prepare and be responsible for any cleaning equipment used to carry out hygiene duties

  • Maintain, replenish and be accountable for stocks of cleaning, and other hygiene and food safety, materials

  • Be fully conversant with the operation and care of any mechanical cleaning equipment used in conjunction with your hygiene duties

  • Be fully conversant with the safe preparation, handling, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants used in conjunction with your hygiene duties

  • Be fully conversant with the requirements of both the BRC Standard (for food safety) and the FEMAS Code of Practice (for feed safety) with respect to Good Manufacturing Practice and hygiene standards

  • Carry out all hygiene tasks in accordance with approved controlled procedures ensuring completion of all records (whether electronic or written) are completed to company standard

  • Ensure all areas are kept clean and free of any debris

  • Some roles in the hygiene team would require you to clean and then re-assemble all removable parts of machinery and depositors in the production area

  • Additional cleaning as required to maintain GMP and hygiene standards, ensuring we are audit ready at all times


  • HEALTH & SAFETY - accountable for working in a safe working manner in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy and for encouraging the same within the Technical and wider Navara teams.

    OPERATIONS - Ensure all day-to-day practice and operations are compliant with hygiene obligations - ensuring the business operates within "audit ready" parameters at all times.

    TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT - undertake training as appropriate including opportunities to multiskill to support the business in opportunities to exceed customer experience. Promote, embed and sustain the company values within interactions within Technical and wider Navara teams.

    CONTINOUS IMPROVEMENT - work proactively in an environment where continuous improvement is part of our everyday operation - making ideas and suggestions on improvement to the Technical Manager.

    Role is Monday to Friday - hours to be either 7 - 3pm, 8 - 4pm or 9-5pm daily.

  • Proven track record of hygiene in the food industry

  • Confidence working with tablet device to record hygiene activities

  • Ability to persist and adapt

  • Physically be able to manage working within several floors of the mill

  • Ability to physically lift materials up to 25kg
