The successful candidate will report to a Devices Specialist and is responsible for providing 2nd line problem resolution for a range of technical functions. Your technical skills and experience will be used in support of the vital technology that helps keep South Wales safe.,

  • To maintain efficient performance of end-user platforms

  • To provide 2nd line ICT support and incident resolution for the South Wales Police device estate. (e.g., desktops, laptops, and mobile phones.) Administration and configuration of technologies within a specific area of the devices team, which could include one of the following areas:


  • + Day-to-day tasking of Technical Engineers
    + Systems development (including projects and change)
    + Radios (Communications Support Unit), The ICT Senior Technical Engineer sits within the Technical Delivery section of the department and reports directly to the Devices Specialist.

  • Must have related qualification(s) in Information Technology or proven experience in relevant areas of Information Technology


  • Must have a proven experience in the support, installation, configuration, and maintenance of end user Devices including Desktops, Laptops, Mobile Phones, Radios, and Peripherals as well as their operating systems (Windows/Android).


  • Experience of Active Directory Services, such as Group Policy, DNS and DFS.


  • Our devices team covers a variety of aspects, so we ask you can demonstrate experience in administrating one (or more) of the following:


  • Device Management - especially Microsoft Systems Centre Enterprise Manager, or Microsoft Intune

  • Desktop Virtualisation Technologies and especially Citrix

  • Mobile Data Management Systems and especially Microsoft Intune

  • Device Security

  • Radio and Integrated Communication Control Systems Communications Support - especially Airwaves and DS3000

  • Installation and maintenance of radio equipment within vehicles, rooms and at radio sites


  • You should also be able to demonstrate experience in configuring one (or more) of the following:

  • Device Management

  • Device OS Builds/ task sequences and GPO's

  • Device Security
