Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ICT Technical Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our employees, you will ensure the efficient operation of designated computer, radio communication, smart phone and telephony systems across the South Wales Police force area. You will be conversant with PC hardware, Windows 10 and have knowledge of various hardware, peripherals, software and communications equipment along with their associated management systems.,

  • Provide second line technical assistance to support the end users.

  • Attending sites around the South Wales area using our fleet vans to provide technical support.

  • Install, configure and maintain hardware and software systems.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve technical issues and escalate problems when necessary.

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in ICT technologies, providing recommendations for improvement and innovation.

  • Ensure data integrity and security is maintained and enforced at all times.

  • Maintain the security of South Wales Police sites, devices and network., The Technical Support Engineer sits within the department's Technical Delivery section and reports to an ICT Senior Support Engineer in the devices team.

    Must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.

  • Must have a current valid full manual UK driving licence

  • Must have a proven track record maintaining end user devices including laptops, desktop and smartphones.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system and Office 365 applications.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues

  • Experience in providing second line technical

  • Experience in PC/Laptop configuration and

  • Experience in modern device management including Windows and Android platforms.
