Full Job Description

An exciting new position has arisen for an immunotherapy advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) role in our new Immunotherapy service, that sits within our acute oncology nursing team.
To ACP role will work to help improve efficiency in the admission pathways by developing new pathways with the same day emergency care (SDEC) teams to help to reduce patients attending the emergency department. To develop ambulatory pathways for patients exhibiting toxicities on immunotherapy that prevents admission to hospital, the role will include service development, research and audit. The ACP will demonstrate in-depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of IO treatments and their side effects that supports management of patients on immunotherapy with cancer.
., + Explore and initiate innovative ways of collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team IO MDT's and carers to continuously improve the care of emergency cancer patients that attend hospitals.
+ To support practice and in-business continuity work at an advanced, highly specialist level demonstrating in-depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of cancer and encompassing advanced assessment and clinical management skills that are evidence based.
+ Demonstrate high levels of interpersonal and specialist technical skills in managing teams and collaborating with other ACP's when caring for patients with IO/AO needs.
+ Discuss and reflect on complex case management.
+ To use highly developed and specialist knowledge to advise other staff on the investigations and treatment required by cancer patients during their emergency admission.
+ To use advanced communication skills in the management of IO/AO team to support the team to manage delivering complex information to patient/carers that facilitate their understanding to assist them in decision making processes.
+ Collaborate with nurses and AHP's in general ward areas supporting their educational needs in developing their skills in caring for patients with acute oncology needs, particularly when communicating sensitive issues., + To function as a change agent particularly with regard to the introduction of evidence-based practice where appropriate, network and national policy
+ To be available to all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide expert advice on all matters pertaining to acute oncology issues and presentations.
+ To lead and support all professionals in co-ordinating the patient's journey and ensure high standards of written and verbal advice is available to patients, relatives, carers, the MDT, and external stakeholders.
+ To provide support, leadership, and line management for the Acute Oncology CNS teams across all four sites.
+ Team leader for the acute oncology nursing team, offering specialist clinical advice and to be responsible for, assist in and record their development and training.
+ Translates national and local policies and initiatives that impact on the patients and healthcare workers and implements these into local specialist practice.
+ Develops and implements changes to policies and guidelines in specialist field of practice.
+ Work collaboratively with Cancer Networks in moving the complex acute oncology agenda forward.
+ Initiates and leads the audit agenda in IO/AO
+ Leads the development of robust data collection.
