Full Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the importation of goods for assigned accounts. You will arrange the movement of goods from their destination to the customer's door, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with customs regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in managing the full import process, liaising with overseas offices, partners, and agents, and ensuring smooth operations for the department. Your involvement will span across Ocean and Road imports.,

  • Ensure compliance with UK customs regulations through internal notifications and the customs website.

  • Accurately transpose customs declaration information from documents and other data sources into the customs brokerage system.

  • Manage and meet internal and external Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) specific to the customer base.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.

  • Arrange and complete all associated paperwork, ensuring the legality and legitimacy of imported goods.

  • Ensure compliance with import quotas, customs tariffs, trade agreements, and HM Revenue and Customs regulations.

  • Stay up to date with regulatory requirements governing imports.

  • Demonstrate commercial awareness by maximising profitability for the organisation.

  • Effectively manage deadlines and handle difficult situations.

  • Accountable for printing and actively allocating all pre-alerts to ensure timely distribution within the department on a daily basis.

  • Utilise in-house tools, such as Seko 360, to monitor and update shipment ETA's for customers.

  • Arrange deliveries within two weeks prior to vessel arrival at the port, coordinating with hauliers (Ocean).

  • Complete customs formalities at least three days prior to goods delivery if possible (Ocean).

  • Proactively communicate any delays in customer deliveries via email and courtesy calls.

  • Ensure timely billing of declared values on SEKO deferment account for duty/vat.

  • Pass all files to the operations manager for billing within two hours of goods delivery, including a full set of uploaded documents.

  • Remain flexible and assist other team members when necessary.

  • Escalate any issues or problems in a timely manner.

    GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths with grades A-C.

  • Specialized Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in customs import declaration procedures.

  • Familiarity with customs regimes and legislation.

  • Knowledge of classification, incoterms, valuation, and origin rules.

  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines.

  • Experience:
  • Knowledge or experience in air, road, or ocean movements.

  • Familiarity with customs documentation and procedures.

  • Understanding of transport procedures, shipping schedules, and freight tariffs.

  • Ability to raise and complete documentation.
