Full Job Description
Working within our Collections and Asbestos Focal Team within the Materials and Analytical Sciences (MAS) Sub-Function, you'll have the opportunity to build your skills and experience gained in a laboratory / field environment. You will be required to undertake field analysis and sampling of a variety of matrices (e.g., soil, concrete, tarmac, water) to support the Bulk Waste Characterisation Programme and the Environmental Monitoring Programme. Work will be delivery orientated and will require daily stakeholder and customer liaison. As a member of the Collections and Asbestos Focal Group team your main responsibilities will be to:
- Undertake field sampling, surveys and in field analysis of samples of a variety of matrices in a variety of locations.
- Satisfy all legislative, regulatory and stakeholder requirements.
- Support sampling surveys, to include sample collection and in field measurements, using a range of instrumentation.
- Assist in programme reviews, development, innovations and implementation.
- Understand and apply Company Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to liaise with other team members, customers and other stakeholders - Ability to handle and interpret data
- Ability to organise and schedule work
- The ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload.
- You must hold full UK manual driving license.

- ONC/HNC in scientific or engineering discipline, equivalent NQF level 4/5 qualification or relevant work experience.
- Understanding of radiological and chemical materials and measurements.
- Knowledge of Waste classification.
- Knowledge of sampling standards.
- Technical knowledge of the broad subject matters of the team (in-field monitoring, collection and on-site safety).
- Competence in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strategic and tactical planning skills.
- Proven track record of driving delivery, performance and continuous improvement.
- Be able to work alone and/or with others to achieve specific deliverables to specified timescales. You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Package: £23,280 - £35,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).,
