Are you passionate about supporting the inclusion of children with Global Developmental Delay in mainstream education? As an Inclusion Advisor, you will join our forward thinking, successful and supportive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities team; where you will work alongside a range of inspirational professionals dedicated to improving the outcomes for young people with additional needs and their families. You will develop your career by working with a team of experienced and knowledgeable individuals, who deliver a diverse range of provision available in the borough which benefits children and families. You will be part of an expanding and progressive service and support us to extend our inclusion vision with schools and settings across Wandsworth. Can you join and help us to make a difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and their families by enhancing their lived experiences? About the role Advice and consultation: You will provide support to school SENCo and teachers around the inclusion of pupils with Global Developmental Delay within mainstream classes. You will also help SENCo and teachers around curriculum planning and assessment for pupils working below the National Curriculum. Caseload: You will work directly with a caseload of pupils who have diagnosis of Down's Syndrome including modelling to support staff and sharing of resources. Collaboration: You will contribute to the EHCP annual reviews for pupils where direct work is taking place and run workshops for SENCo, teachers and support staff to address key topics related to pupils working below the National Curriculum.

  • Substantial experience as a SENCO or Inclusion leader within a mainstream or special school with demonstrable impact on removing barriers to the inclusion of children with Global Developmental Delay.
  • Evidence based understanding of the pedagogy for including pupils with Global Developmental Delay (including those with Downs syndrome) within mainstream classes and the ability to coach and support other teachers to implement this.
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum planning and assessment systems for pupils working below the National Curriculum.
  • Ability to challenge and support school leaders to ensure the best possible provision is provided for children with Global Developmental Delay to enable them to achieve their outcomes.
