Full Job Description

The post is based in the Nursing and Therapy team at Bevan and involves working with adults in the community who have a range of mental and physical health issues including Anxiety, Depression, Affective disorders, Personality disorders and trauma, as well as experiencing homelessness or destitution.

The post holder will work alongside the Nursing, Medical and Therapy colleagues in the team, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating art therapy treatment.

The post holder will work with clients with complex and high risk needs for suitability for Art Therapy within a treatment program which is flexible and sensitive to the needs of the client group, involving clients in one-to-one and group work, using a variety of art materials in a therapeutic and creative way.

Main duties of the job

To work with service users providing Art Therapy and other psychological interventions as required.

To liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team around treatment outcomes, referrals and formulation to ensure the service meets client needs while working within professional boundaries and the HCPC code of conduct.

To maintain own patient records, write reports as required and communicate with other professionals; making recommendations, and giving feedback on patients treatment.

To co facilitate Art therapy group sessions.

To have excellent written and oral communication skills, maintain electronic records and support data collection and analysis.

Work closely, in a sensitive and thoughtful way with disturbing and traumatic emotional material on a continuing daily basis with clients with acute and enduring mental health issues. This requires understanding but also a highdegree of professionalism to avoid secondary trauma. Clients may be distressed and angry and the work may involve working therapeutically with people with challenging behaviours displaying verbal and physical aggression and clients may be resistive to change.

Proactively works with the community and other statutory and voluntary agencies empowering, enabling, encouraging and supporting individuals, families and groups to address issues which affect their health and social well-being

Bevan Community Benefit Society provide sensitive and responsive Primary Care services for people who are homeless or living in temporary unstable accommodation, those who have come to Leeds and Bradford as asylum seekers and refugees, and other groups who find it difficult to access health care.
