thrive and to achieve their very best., To work under the direct instruction of the SEMH Inclusion co -ordinator and the Inclusion lead.
To work with teachers as part of a professional Inclusion team to support teaching and learning for
SEND pupils. Providing specialist assistance to pupils who need particular help to overcome
barriers to learning, such as those with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning
difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities. This role will
include working with children with demanding behavioural needs.
The role holder will be required to have developed communication skills used for working with
external agencies.
Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks
A) Support for Children
- Supervise and support children ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Establish good relationships with children, encourage good behaviour, acting as a role model
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children, encouraging pupils to act towards each
- Encourage children to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
- Encourage children to act independently as appropriate
- Provide first aid (at an appropriate level for the first aid certification held), pastoral care and
- Provide learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the professional direction
- Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist/care
- Be involved in planning, organising and implementing individual learning plans, risk
- Attend to pupils' personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating, as well as
- Monitor pupils' conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to
- Supervise individuals and groups of pupils throughout the day, including supervision in the
- Work with pupils not working to normal timetable
- Be aware of individual children and their individual needs, progress and achievements and
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with
- Gather and report information from and to parents/carers as directed
- Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as
- Monitor, assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment, as agreed with
- Select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities, c) Support for the Curriculum
- Support children to understand instructions
- Support children in respect of local and national learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy,
- Support children in using basic ICT as directed
- Prepare and maintain equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assist children in
- Maintain a professional approach at all times and be aware of and comply with policies and
- Be aware of and support difference and ensure all children have equal access to opportunities
- Contribute to the overall ethos, work, aims and developments of the school

- Accompany teaching staff and children on visits, trips and out of school activities as required
- Establish and maintain relationships with families and carers and other adults, e.g. speech
- Advise and assist pupils in the proper use and deployment of complex personal and learning
- Escort and supervise pupils on educational and out of school activities

Contract: Permanent
Hours: 30.85 hours per week over 5 days, 8.30am to 3.10pm
Salary: NJC Grade 4 to Grade 6, SCP 5 - 12, £23500 - £26,421 p.a.pro rata
