Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established community mental health team for older people. The independent prescriber role is a new post within the team so the successful candidate will be encouraged to work alongside medics and other leaders to develop the post and share ideas on how it is structured.

The Team includes an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist, a Consultant Nurse and a trainee advanced clinical practitioner. These medical colleagues will provide the successful candidate with the clinical supervision and support they will need to embed them into the team and build confidence in the role.

The team also includes Nurses, Occupational Therapists Psychologists, Support workers and admin staff. We are a close team and very supportive of each other and to new staff who join us. We work hard but also prioritise staff wellbeing and psychological safety.

We welcome staff who share our ethos of providing high quality mental health care to our patients and their carers whilst also taking care of our team members.

We are seeking an qualified RMN/RNMH with experience of working in a Community Health service for Older People and who has NMP qualification.

The successful candidate will work alongside our Medical Team including Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Nurse and our Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner.

The role will involve working in clinic to review patients and their current treatment and to prescribe medication within the scope of practice.

The role may also involve visiting people in their own homes or in Care Homes to carry out medical reviews.

The post will include a leadership role and the candidate will work closely with other leaders in the team to develop quality improvement and to deliver training and advice to other clinicians within the team.

Please note that the base for this job is the Beacon, however may involve working across site at Thanet Mental Health Unit.
