Full Job Description

We Care Bespoke are seeking an experienced and dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join a team in Gateshead. This role involves overseeing the care planning and review process for children in care, The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, particularly in child protection and care planning. Key Responsibilities

  • Chair and facilitate statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that care plans are effective, appropriate, and in the best interests of the child.
  • Monitor the implementation of care plans, ensuring that all actions are completed in a timely manner and that children's needs are being met.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in all decisions affecting their lives.
  • Work closely with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to care planning and review.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all reviews, decisions, and actions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies.

    A degree in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Significant experience in social work, particularly in child protection, care planning, and/or as an IRO. Skills Strong facilitation and chairing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals. Knowledge of relevant legislation and care planning and review.
