Full Job Description

  • Assess the full indirect tax implications of new initiatives, including structural and organizational changes, and provide effective tax cost management advice where appropriate.

  • Communicate these implications to stakeholders, acting as a subject matter expert for any subsequent business or compliance process changes.

  • Develop and articulate the company's existing indirect tax positions at both practical and legislative levels to tax authorities, during audits or proactively.

  • Manage tax authority audits, disputes, and associated litigation, including third-party relationships.

  • Monitor VAT landscape changes within EMEA, assess the impact on the company's tax positions, and communicate changes or opportunities to leadership.

  • Support the Indirect Tax Director in identifying VAT risks and opportunities.

  • Contribute to indirect tax lobbying efforts through various channels and networking events.

  • Serve as the Indirect Tax Subject Matter Expert on wider EMEA regulatory projects, such as new e-invoicing requirements and regulatory reporting to tax authorities.

  • Ensure open communication channels with the Compliance team to integrate decisions into VAT return procedures.

  • Collaborate with corporate tax/transfer pricing teams and indirect tax colleagues in other regions to share business knowledge and mitigate tax risks.

  • Work closely with the Tax Accounting team and local/regional finance teams to ensure VAT exposures are properly accounted for and communicated.

  • Assist in reporting indirect tax exposures and developments to the company's leadership teams and board meetings.

    Extensive post-qualification indirect tax experience in a reputable professional environment and/or large multinational corporate setting.

  • Proven multi-jurisdictional knowledge of UK and EU indirect tax rules and emerging EMEA legislation.

  • Relevant professional qualification (accounting, tax, or legal).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate analysis into solutions and impacts.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain highly technical issues to a diverse audience.

  • Proven ability to build relationships across functions, levels, and regions, demonstrating true collaboration.
