Sizewell C is in search of a dynamic Indirect Tax Manager to join our established finance team. This pivotal role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of a cutting-edge nuclear power plant, while ensuring robust and efficient indirect tax compliance and strategy.

Key Responsibilities :

Indirect Tax Expertise : Specialise in Importer of Record and related taxes, ensuring VAT is correctly recorded and accounted for.

Business Partnership : Serve as the crucial link between Tax and Supply Chain to optimize VAT efficiency and manage risk.

Compliance & Reporting : Take charge of indirect tax compliance, reporting, and governance, ensuring all processes are robust and transactions are VAT-efficient.

Stakeholder Collaboration : Work across a diverse range of stakeholders, including government bodies, regulators, and financial institutions, as Sizewell C continues to grow and develop.

As we transition into a standalone company, we are ramping up our efforts to achieve a successful Financial Investment Decision and adhere to a defined construction schedule.

This role is integral to capturing and controlling indirect tax risks and identifying opportunities for efficiencies.

Role Requirements :

Expertise & Experience : A senior qualified tax advisor with over 10 years of experience in indirect tax, capable of providing highly technical opinions and advice on financial and compliance impacts related to UK and EU indirect taxes, environmental taxes, and customs clearance.

Strategic Impact : Demonstrate initiative and drive in establishing autonomous processes, contributing meaningfully to the SZC project.

Adaptive & Proactive : Navigate the continuously evolving environment, responding to project needs, stakeholder requirements, and external influences like changes in indirect tax laws.

Your Day-to-Day :

Manage Indirect Taxes : Oversee UK indirect tax and Importer of Record taxes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in VAT handling.

Data Utilization : Design and utilise tools (e.g., SAP S4 HANA) for capturing necessary data for indirect tax purposes.

Compliance & Automation : Lead the compliance process, automate and simplify reporting, and ensure timely tax return submissions.

Stakeholder Engagement : Interact proactively with HMRC, respond to inquiries, and negotiate indirect tax returns.

Advisory Role : Provide expert advice on the impact of indirect tax legislation on business transactions and ensure tax efficiency.

Risk Management : Identify and mitigate tax risks, making necessary adjustments for control failures.

Essential :

o CTA qualified or equivalent with significant experience in indirect tax.

o Broad knowledge of both direct and indirect taxes, applied commercially.

o Proven ability to work independently and manage complex workloads.

o Experience in a construction or large infrastructure project environment.

Desirable :

o Experience with financial systems (SAP) and large-scale construction infrastructure projects.

o Familiarity with the energy sector and commercial awareness.
