Full Job Description

Could you be the full-time Industrial Quality Engineer to perform inspections of subassemblies or finished ALSTOM products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements? Your future role Take on a new challenge by being based at our Services site at Old Oak Common and apply your Industrial Quality Engineering expertise in supporting a depot with several different work streams. You will report functionally to the Head of Quality; Parts, Overhaul & Modernisation (POM), working closely with the Project Quality manager and on a day-to-day basis with the local site team. Ensuring Product Quality compliance according to Customer & Internal specifications. Deploy Industrial Quality Standards per manufacturing process during manufacturing to support: External Demerit at ZERO for Customer and improve IQ Performance with DpU (Defect per Unit), especially for Special Processes. You'll functionally report to the Head of Quality, Parts, Overhaul & Modernisation, and your day to day will be working closely with teams on depot and across the business contributing into site improvement actions and programs related to the IQ scope. We'll look to you for:

  • Accepting / Rejecting products as defined in the working instructions.
  • Accurately document NCR and results of the inspections and testing, to launch the expected reaction on with Alstom teams and supplier side.
  • Ensuring all controlled document files and test records are done in a in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assuring the correct calibration of critical equipment and instrumentation used in the inspections. Assisting in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
  • Evaluating problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action. Working with industrial teams to alert on risks of missing parts due to defects Recording inspection results in the industrial tools as required.
  • Reporting to the Industrial Quality Managers the synthesis of inspection results, including KPI's. Stopping the production in case of a defect which justifies mandatory rework.
  • Escalate the anomalies detected on the production lines & ensure their effective treatment (QRQC tool). Supporting manufacturing teams regarding the self-inspection.
  • Ensuring quality animation methodology, in line with APSYS requirements
  • Support Customer Audits and monitor and manage Customer CARs.
  • Carry out Product and process audits and conduct analysis on findings from all Audits
  • Performance measurements
  • External Demerit, Defects per Unit & First Pass Yield reductions to achieve objectives defined.
  • CONQ (Cost of Non-Quality) measurement and reduction to achieve objective defined.
  • APSYS score objective for Site quality requirements.

  • Mandatory:
  • Engineering experience (electromechanical, electrical, material, mechanical…)
  • Must be able to read drawings / specifications and familiar with a variety of test equipment.
  • Special Process knowledge / experience
  • Experience in managing Quality tools (Problem solving, Lean Six Sigma, …)
  • Processes knowledge on Quality and at Industrial level
  • Leadership / Management experience
  • Using digital tools
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in Industrial quality
  • Experience in Project management or equivalent.
  • Experience in auditing.
  • Railway experience is a "plus."
  • Competencies & Skills
  • Decision making, self-managing and resilience.
  • Rigor, excellent communication, decisiveness & courage to challenge the status quo.
  • Knowledge of railway products is a plus.
  • International mindset & Fluent in English
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and resistance to pressure (Production & Delivery)
  • Knowledge of Quality standard (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI, …) and Quality tools
