Full Job Description

We're looking for a day based Industrial Services Plumbing Technician to work as part of the industrial services team based at our Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire. Manufacturing in Nestlé is all about ensuring the consumer receives a perfect quality product, at the right time and place whilst driving losses from our business in order to maximise efficiency & productivity. Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street amongst several other well-known brands such as After Eight. These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. A day in the life of an Industrial Services Plumbing Technician As an Industrial Services Plumbing Technician, you will support the Industrial Services Manager by carrying out maintenance on pipework systems, control valves, domestic systems and drainage. Knowledge of general maintenance is an advantage as you will be required to support the business with several tasks including Plumbing, Drainage, General Building repairs. This will include working with various 3rd party contractors to help ensure the continued reliability of the assets while maintaining all SHE requirements. You will be working to deliver improvements by carrying out small installation projects technically supporting the Industrial Services Engineer/Manager and developing the technical skills within the engineering and operational teams. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing TPM processes so it's an exciting time to be involved, and it is expected that you will play a key part in the move from reactive to proactive maintenance.

  • Responding to breakdowns within the plant, maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation - this would include an element of overtime/weekend working
  • Looking after all aspects of cost, efficiency, quality and maintenance activities including administration.
  • Contributing to the upkeep of all relevant technical documentation.
  • Participating and positively contributing to site initiatives and engineering standards as requested to include; HACCP, ISO50001, TPM, Corporate Engineering Standards.
  • Raising purchase orders where required, liaising with the Maintenance Managers to ensure that appropriate service levels are maintained within budgetary constraints.
  • Issuing of permits to work as required for both Nestle and 3rd party contractors as well as general contractor management

    You will have excellent mechanical services, HVAC and plumbing engineering ability along with initiative and attention to detail. Experience of modern manufacturing techniques such as 5S, LEAN and TPM would be ideal. You will also:
  • Be educated to level 2/3 NVQ or City and Guilds in mechanical services/plumbing
  • BOAS Qualification and experience of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems would be preferred.
  • Ideally able to demonstrate skills working on steam boilers and associated equipment, Refrigeration Systems, Air Compressors and Water Treatment.
  • Possess a logical fault-finding approach to breakdowns.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency whilst never compromising safety or product quality.
