Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infant Feeding Team to appoint a Band 4 Infant Feeding Volunteer Peer Support Co-ordinator to promote and support the implementation of the Trust infant feeding peer support strategy. The post holder will have specific responsibility for the development and co-ordination of volunteer infant feeding peer supporters within the hospital and community settings. You will support the development of a welcoming and compassionate volunteer infant feeding peer support programme with appropriate training and supervision for peer supporters, with support from the Infant Feeding team. Supporting the Trust to implement infant feeding policies and practice, in-line with UNICEF requirements and to meet national and local breastfeeding targets and help to address health inequalities. You should be passionate and with a drive to make a difference. You will work as part of team dedicated to improving breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates, supporting women, birthing people, families and Trust staff to develop their knowledge and ensuring that babies receive continuous good feeding support in both the Acute and community settings., As the successful candidate for this position, you will have an important role working within the Infant Feeding Team leading on:

  • Volunteer recruitment
  • Supporting the transition and training of volunteers.
  • Co-ordinating the team of volunteers
  • Providing ongoing support and supervision
  • Ensuring volunteers are working within the Baby Friendly Standards
  • Support with workshops to raise awareness and interest from local mothers and pregnant women about the importance of breastfeeding and the support that mothers need to breastfeed successfully
