Full Job Description

To work closely with the IPC team and the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), in the planning, provision and promotion of a comprehensive infection prevention and control service.

  • Act as a role model to promote best practice within IPC.
  • Undertake regular reviews of patients with alert organisms/alert conditions that carry a risk of infection/are at risk of infection from others.
  • Provide advice to the multi-professional team, patients, relatives and carers on IPC best practices.
  • Monitor compliance with IPC advice and procedures during clinical visits and audits and provide timely feedback to relevant clinicians and managers.
  • Support the IPC clinical nurse specialists with the investigation and management of outbreaks of infection and infection related incidents.
  • Advise and support staff with safe and effective decontamination of equipment and the environment.
  • Participate with the education of multidisciplinary staff on current evidence-based IPC practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's annual IPC work plan and quarterly reports.

    RDaSH is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Registered Nurse/Allied Health Care Professional who has a keen interest in the field of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic IPC team. The successful candidate will support the Trust to meet the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 Code of practice on the prevention and control of infection and related guidance. The role includes all aspects of IPC and the successful candidate will be developed to be able provide specialist advice, deliver training, perform audit and undertake and interpret surveillance of healthcare associated infection. Support will be given to undertake a specialist IPC qualification. You will be required to support the delivery of a high-quality IPC service across all areas. Therefore, you must have a flexible approach to work, demonstrating organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines.
