Information Governance Assistant Officer

Job Purpose: To be a point of contact on all matters relating to Information Governance. To work closely with the Information Governance Officers and IG Manager in ensuring that RDaSH complies with its statutory duty to fully implement the requirements of Information Governance and Data Protection. To support the provision of information, guidance and advice as required to the Trust regarding Information Governance matters as part of a wider Information Governance Team which undertake the following functions:

• Subject Access to Records under the Data Protection Act 2018
• Freedom of Information (FOI) requests under the FOI Act 2000
• Records Management: Archive of records including filing, tracking and the correct application of destruction schedules
• Confidentiality and Caldicott Support
• Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
• Incident Management
• Information Risk Management
• Information Security
• Data Protection Duties, To support the implementation of the Information Governance Framework for the Trust taking into account legislation and NHS requirements as set out in the DSPT.
• To assist the IG Manager/Officers in completion of the DSPT.
• To be responsible for the processing of Individuals' Rights Requests and Subject Access requests under the Data Protection and Access to Health Records Acts. Ensuring that any problems where statutory timescales may not be met are immediately raised with appropriate managers.
• To be responsible for the processing of requests under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations. Ensuring that any problems where statutory timescales may not be met are immediately raised with appropriate managers.
• Provide advice and guidance to patients and their relatives regarding their rights of access.
• Support the IG Manager/Officers in providing the statutory training on the full remit of Information Governance including Freedom of Information and Data Protection.
• Assist the IG Manager to manage the link with the offsite records storage facility. Ensuring that records are made available to clinical staff as required and are returned to storage in an organised manner.
