Full Job Description
The post holder will provide the Trust with strategic leadership in Information Governance and the wider Information Assurance framework. To be the prime source of expert advice and policy development, to create and maintain high level awareness, profile and understanding of the strategic and practical importance of IG, and to assure the Trust Board that it is meeting its statutory and legal obligations. To undertake the role of Data Protection Officer as required by data protection legislation. The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload ensuring that work is completed to the required high standard in a timely fashion. The post holder must possess highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience.
This post is part time 30 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertake GDPR data protection officer role and register Trust for data protection with information commissioner annually.
2. To be the first point of contact within the organisation(s) for all data protection matters.3. To support programmes of work from inception to ensure that data protection is addressed by default and in the design of new systems and information processes.4. To be available to be contacted directly by data subjects - the contact details of the data protection officer will be published in the organisation's privacy notice.5. The data protection officer will ensure that appropriate confidentiality is maintained in the performance of her or her tasks.6. In performing the tasks as the Information Governance Lead, the Data Protection Officer must ensure that DPO responsibilities are not influenced in any way, and should a potential conflict of interest arise report this to line manager/highest management level.7. To develop or advise senior management on the development and establishment of policies, procedures and other measures to ensure compliance with the GDPR, including but not limited
to:Records of processing activitiesData protection by design and defaultData protection impact assessment
