Full Job Description

The successful candidate will support the Information Governance Manager on the training of staff and the planning and completion of compliance audits across the Trust, to ensure compliance with the annual assessment of the Data Security Protection Toolkit. They will provide specialist knowledge, advice and training around Information Governance. They will also provide Information Governance support for new Trust wide projects, such as by assisting with the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments. They will also provide support and cover for the Freedom of Information function and Data Access function, as and when needed to support the wider Information Governance Team., The main duties of the role include:

  • Completing audits across the Trust to ensure that all areas of the Trust meet their requirements for Data Security and Protection Toolkit return, the Freedom of Information Act, GDPR and other data protection legislation.

  • Supporting the IG Manager with assessing and meeting the requirements of the Information Governance standards under the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, working closely with all areas of the Trust to ensure a high level of compliance is reached and maintained. This includes the collation of information, coordination of inspections and liaison with auditors.

  • Leading other appropriate Information Governance compliance work streams within the Trust as delegated by Information Governance Manager.

  • Investigating and reporting on Information Governance incidents when requested, including establishing causes and determining appropriate corrective and/or preventive action.

  • Conforming to ELHT's Data & Digital policies, procedures and working practices at all times, and also actively contribute to developing and enhancing policies, procedures and working practices.

  • Providing support as and when needed to the Freedom of Information function and Data Access function.

  • Undertaking any other duties as defined by the Information Governance Manager.

    Has experience in either an information or planning arena and can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of organisations associated with the provision of healthcare

  • Experience of IG training/presenting to all levels of staff

  • Evidence of involvement service change projects

  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations including the resolution of conflict and influencing others to accept demanding outcomes

  • Continuing professional development

  • Experience of processing requests for information under legislation

  • Exposure to a risk management environment

  • Experience of implementing IG policies and procedure, Educated to degree level (or equivalent) education in an information related subject or equivalent work experience

  • Evidence of project management or training qualification or equivalent work experience

  • Evidence of IG related subjects qualifications, Knowledge of health performance management and current developments relevant to the statutory regulatory framework

  • An up-to-date understanding of the issues, concepts and legal/technical requirements of he General Protection Regulations ,Data Protection Act 2018 as well as a general understanding of the principles of information security

  • Knowledge of data protection principles and standards relating to healthcare data

  • Excellent understanding of the NHS Governance agenda

  • Ability to produce reports that evaluate and present complex data in an understandable way

  • Have a high degree of competence in the use of Microsoft Office and desktop applications and can demonstrate good skills with respect to the use of spreadsheets

  • Ability to respond to unpredictable work patterns/interruptions

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
